Santiago de Chile

Pictures from my arrival in Santiago de Chile and around town.  Santiago is a great city and I look forward to returning for the great seafood, scenery and people.

5:00am arrival at my hotel.

Same picture next day.

Another mouses view of a Cathedral, in the Santiago Center.

Cathedral, Santiago.

Church graffiti.

Guy on the upper left waiting for his laundry to dry.

Park by the river.

kitties, from the lower right side of the statue in the previous picture.

In the large central market, cool place. It kind of reminded me of the Pike Place Market in Seattle.

Those things don't look very appetizing.

Lots of yummy seafood in this place, "Donde Augusto" is the name for most of the restaurants.

Still inside the market.

Outside the market.

Wreaths being watered.

Just a large event building near the market.

The university has a tradition where the Freshmen dress as bums, beg for money and use the proceeds to throw the Sophomores a party.

Another downtown church.

Mall in the town center.

Statue in center.

Freshmen bums bathing.

Poser bums.

Brick thing.

West side of town.

There's a big hill on the south end of town with a park and a great view of the city.

...and a pool.

A bit of the veiw.

This is visible from the south side of the city.

More park stuff.

Still at the park on the hill.

One of the many fountains in Santiago.

Another.

My thrifty hotel room in Santiago.

"ProMoto" shop in Santiago on Vitacura 9096. Very helpful guys.

Restaurant where the menu of the day was always good.
